Stay within Lines

During the trip up and down the pool, it’s easy to get hypnotised by that black line which is often the only thing you see for the duration of the workout. Remember to not swim up-and-down directly above it, lest you slap a couple of other swimmers who are staring at the same thing.

Give other people some space

We all lap at different speeds, so when you have to share a lane, pick another person that’s swimming at about the same pace as you. Don’t tuck in behind them and enjoy the free draft, pass them if you need to ‘lap’ them.

Turn middle left corner of your lane

Be mindful of blocking your lane

Avoid collisions, angle towards that big black T when swimming into the wall so that the person behind you has room to swim their turn as well.

If you have to stop to stretch a cramp, adjust your goggles, or reread the set, move to the corner that puts you out of the way of other swimmers so that they can turn unobstructed.
